Sekalaisii - Miscellaneous

No ensinnäkkii - tää humu täytti seihtemätoist tuos juhannukse korvil, tarkkaa päivää ei tiijetä. Kuule hää ei ennää oikei hyväst ja sit hänel on sellane metka tapa jot hää juoksoo autoi vastaa ja männöö niihe alle tutkimaa, nii jot vähä sellasta kamikazemeininkii. Mut kuitekii. Hää on mei ukkel.

He is now seventeen. His hearing is poor and he has a suicidal habit of running towards cars as they turn to the yard which is a bit dangerous, really. But he's our old dude.

The weather sucks so I had another baking day. The first strawberries were ripe but it looks bad for the rest, with this kind of weather there'll be mold and rot and whatnot.

The rain alone is bad but add some storms to it and there go the trees again. One would think that after the storms of 2010 the remaining trees could take anything but nah - if the wind hits them from another direction, some fall. The electricity was on and off and on again for a couple of days after the storm on Sunday until all the power lines had been fixed. Poor electricians, they always get to hike in bad weather.

Miu pies vaa kehittää vihreesee ja ruskeesee joku niksi jottei lukot aukiais, harmittas suunnattomast jos ne häviäät.

My friend asked on Facebook if we could guess the day her orchid blossoms. I got the day right so I won the bracelet on the left, the one with the peace sign. The next one to the right is stamped with the text "not all those who wander are lost". The green one is blank (yet pretty!) and the brown one has the whole second verse of the "not all" poem:

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,

A light from the shadows shall spring;

Renewed shall be blade that was broken,

The crownless again shall be king.

Mut! Tännää ol hito kiva päivä - ensiks käytii suvu naisii kans kirppiskierros. Löysin neljä puseroo ja yhe pellavamekon, puserot kustansiit 50 senttii kappale. Kaks ol upouusii hihattommii toppiloita, yks fleecepusero, sekkii uus, ja neljäis ol musta T-paita mihi ol painettu Vincent van Goghin iirikset. Vincent!! Miu lemppar! Viel ko joskus hommaan Starry Night-paian ni vot. Pellavamekko makso kokonaiset kolme ja puol euroo. Sit tein viel löyvön velmiehele, hää ko kaipail pojillee säkkituoliloita ni löyty kaks ja halval ko hitto. Sit  käytii viel Ilose pässi maalaispuojis kahvil ja siel ol näi ihana uus myyjä. Mie en ois malttant niiko lähtii ensikää sielt pois.

Today was a great day though. First we did a shopping spree with auntie and Mom and stormed the flea markets. I bought four shirts for 50 cents a piece: two brand new sleeveless tops, one fleece sweater and a black T-shirt with Vincent van Gogh's irises printed on the front. Vincent! My favourite! (One day I will get myself a Starry Night shirt too and then my life will be complete.) Then we had coffee at a great little shop which sells farmers' products from all over the country plus buffalo burgers (yes, buffalo, the North American one) and organic food and ethically produced pork and all kinds of great stuff. Anyway, they had hired this new sales purrson. I could have stayed indefinitely.



Ja sit kamu kysäs jot kiinnostaskos minnuu lähtii kahtomaa Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen sanan keikkaa Imatrale. Ai kiinnostasko! Voip kuulostaa ouvolt yhistää big band-musiikki ja räppi, mut niiko sanonta kuuluu, sehä svengaa ko hirvi ja mie oon olt fani ensimäisest levyst ast (ja räppäreihe osalt GG Caravanist enne sitä). Keikka ol ilmane ja mahtava ja ol hito kiva nähä ystävää pitkäst aikaa - miehä en oo käynt kenekää luon aikapäivii, koska syyt, ni et ol kyl mukavaa.

Nää räppärit on miu sankarloi. Palefacel on ilmeisest olt joko huuli- tai suulakihalkio niiko miulkii, ja se et siit lähtökohast päätyy räppäriks on aika hito upee juttu. Lindgren räppää nii nopiaa ja pitkää jot sitä on vaikii uskoo et se on ehkees mahollista. Redramal taas on takan voitettu taistelu addiktioihe kans. And then my friend asked if I'd like to go see Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen sana. Well, duh! The band combines jazzy big band style music with modern hip hop, yes it migh sound weird but as we say in Finland, it swings like a moose. I've been a fan since the first album. The gig was free and awesome and it was great to see my friend again - I haven't visited anyone in ages due to reasons.

The rappers (Paleface, Lindgren, Redrama) are my heroes. Paleface apparently has had cleft lip or palate in his youth just like I did, and for someone with that background to become a rapper is awesome. Lindgren can rap so fast & so long I have a hard time believing it's even possible. Redrama has fought with addictions and conquered them. And the band is such a bunch of skillful musicians you actually _feel_ their talent, like an aura.

It took a little less than 10 hours to mow the whole lawn but now the first time is done. And as agreed, next time will be easier. Yeah. Right. So I thought I might make a few earrings to get the jewellery shop going again. Spring green with surgical steel.

So now that the lawn is done for a while, I grabbed the pitchfork and worked in the vegetable garden. Help was again available although she focused on supervising my work, occasionally playing with the weeds I pulled and demanding some love & tenderness. I was happy to oblige.

In our series "on the yard  and in the garden" we have progressed to the lawn. Hi everybody, meet Frankenstein, Frank for short. He's ugly and heavy and he's been fixed a million times with wire.

A day after the warranty ended so did the self-propelling. It was added to Frank's chassy in the very early manufacturing stages so that Frank was practically welded around it. Impossible to fix, that is. But I'm strong so no matter, I can push him around easy. Then Frank decided that bagging the cut grass was a completely useless feature and stopped doing it. I did have use for the shredded grass in the vegetable garden - I used to cover the soil with it, it helped maintain the moisture and stopped weeds from overtaking the veggies, but Frank said this was non-negotiable and I had to give in. Removing the bag resulted in Frank choking on longer grass continuously, so we took some wire and yanked the rear flap into a permanently open position.

The next summer Frank was probably hungry because he ate his front wheels. Well no matter, we did a road trip to Biltema and got us some wheels. They're smaller than the originals though so he's now got a mean forward-leaning look. Then flew a spring and a wire snapped and and and - three times I was able to fix him with wire, then I gave up. Therefore all the summer of 2015 we had a jungle around the house, with meter-high thistles and nettles.

This spring we took a look wondering if we could revive him. We took the safety mechanism off (they're Bah! Humbug anyway) and after that a teensy weensy bit of wire did the trick. IT'S ALIVE! So Frank and I have had lots of sweet moments together - I actually like mowing the lawn, it's like going to a gym and a back massage all in one, plus my skin likes the sweating, the short grass keeps the ticks at bay (with seven pets, not at all a minor plus) and my shoes or toes stay dry when walking on the yard.

Spring birch green!



Harva assii saap nii levollisele mielele ko se jot kaapit on täys ruokaa. Täl kertaa se ol kissaruokaa. Tilasin raksuloi (kymmenä killoo, piisaa ehkä kuukauve) ja Latzii, paitsi jot se on maalimal Felix. Mei kissat tykkäsiit täst kaniankast kovast, toivottavast tykkäävät koko kahekymmenäneljä purki eest.

I get a content zen feeling whenever my stocks are full of food. Today it was cat food, a shipment of dry food (10 kilos, will last for about a month) and Latz  which is called Felix in continental Europe. My cats liked this rabbit-duck-flavour, hopefully they'll like all 24 cans of it.

For some reason I hadn't made these before, ever. Now that they were specifically asked for, I gave it a try and made a few versions from which to choose. I still have a couple of those keychain lock thingys so might make a few more.

We were discussing Spring with my friend the other day so I decided to take a few photos about what it means here. From Southern Finland friends have posted pics of spring flowers and such - we'll have to wait a while longer for them to appear.

Silver jewellery is regulated so that if the weight of the silver per jewellery piece exceeds 10 grams you need to stamp it to show it's really silver. It takes two stamps - the other one tells the material (for example 925 to show that the piece is 92,5% pure silver, also called sterling silver) and the other one the maker. To buy the stamps (which also are strictly defined and regulated and need to be purchased from a proper seller) you must have an enterprise and several hundred euros. Which I don't. So I'm not selling, I'm exchanging. I sent this to a person I know and she sends me something she doesn't need anymore. It won't be for me but a surprise to someone. So the government with its cornucopia of splendid ideas on how to save money can go fuck itself, I am sick of them and their ideas. /rant

Isn't it Spring, it's March after all. I made this peridote & Swarovski & silver necklace while watching the Oscars. I cheered for the costume designer of Mad Max, Ennio Morricone and of course DiCaprio. Lady Gaga and co. on the other hand silenced us all, I think. Respect.

I have several pendants ("Findings from the Resin Era") in my bead boxes, so I took them out and made them into jewellery.

I also found these connectors for triple-layered jewellery, so I made some with freshwater pearls.
