Musiikkii ja tiloloi - Music and spaces

Sain justii luvettuu Sami Yaffa - tie taipuu -elämäkerran. Ja olha se hyvä. Ois olt sittekii vaik en oiskaa pitkä linja Hanoifani. Rehelline ja hauska. Hää käyttää kirjas ilmasuu "päästä tiloihin" soittamisee liittyen ja tiijän nii mitä se tarkottaa.

I just finished the biography of Sami Yaffa. I've been his fan for decades but to be honest I would have enjoyed the book, fan or not. In the book he uses an expression of "entering spaces" when he's playing and I think I know exactly what he is talking about.

So on the other night, after borrowing two Ailu Valle albums from the library, driving home from the evening shift, the weather was dry, it was (relatively, this is Finland after all) still light but the streetlights were on, and Mr Valle was rapping in Sami on the stereos, the spaces were quite close.

Syksyy - Autumn

Mie haluaisin oikeest nähä japanialaise autoinsinööri tahi asentajan kätöset, jot mite pienet ne on. Meinaan jot miu käet ei oo mitkää iha lapiot ja ahasta on aina ko pittää polttimo vaihtaa. I would really want to see the hands of a Japanese car engineer slash repairperson as I want to know how small their hands are. Mine aren't actually shovel-sized but still changing the bulb is a pain in various bodyparts. Therefore I drove for a month or two with half lights until the summer light had vanished to the point I couldn't avoid the task longer. It took more than fifteen minutes and may I add this is the easier side, even though the battery is way too close. When the left one goes I usually drive to a garage and let them do the job, as I like to have the skin on my hands hole-free. With my lifestyle the wounds and scratches tend easily get infected (see next photo).




Käin taas koiranruoka-autol ja ostin viistoist killoo kanapojasiipii, koipinee. No nehä on jääs ja yhten mötlikkään ko haetaa, ja jot niitä ois niiko helpomp tarjoilla, ni annetaa niihe vähä sulahtaa (ei liikaa tai muute ne jäätyyt taas toisiise kiine) ja irrotellaa ja pussitettaa ja työnnetää uuvestaa pakkasee. I bought some frozen chicken wings with legs from a dog food lorry that drives around the country and stops here and there once a month. 15 kilos of them, in fact. They're frozen solid when bought so to make life easier, I let them thaw just a bit and then take the block apart and bag and freeze it again. The Swedish Mora knife is for sizing and with Tigga helping, the job took two hours.

It was a horrible summer weatherwise so I didn't expect much from the garden. In addition to peas and beans kale grew nicely, though, and lately there has been zucchini, which is quite a surprise to me. It's about time I harvest all of it, there's a whooping 7 degrees Celsius outside, if that.



Tungin sit kesäkurppaa piirakkaa fetan ja nokkosii ja aurinkokuivatu tomaati (olliit muute Lidlis tarjoukses eurol purkki! Ostin kuus!) ja ööh minkähä muun kans. No siis kuitekii, 1 muna, 1 ruokakermapurkki, täytteeks sitä mitä nyt sattuu olemaa ja ihetehty voitaikinapohja. Loput kesäkurpat raastoin ja pistin pakkasee tulevii kasvispihvilöi varte.

I made a quiche-ish pie with zucchini and nettles and feta and sundried tomatoes (they were on sale at Lidl, 1 euro per jar! I bought six!!) and 1 egg and some cream. Then I grated the rest of the zucchini and froze it, it will become veggie burger steaks in the future.




Lehtikaali käsittelyy mie tän salaattilingon kirpparilt ostin ja siinhä se on hyvä ko hitto. Kannatti maksaa (ja hyvä jot sattu olemaa) neljä euroo.

The salad spinner I found at the flea market for 4 euros has been put to good use with kale. Glad I found it (and had the four euros).

Sattaa - It rains

Forrest Gumpis on kohtaus mis alkaa sattaa ja sit se sattaakii kaike aikaa pari kuukautta. Vähä tuntuu samalt. No, eile tein sit pullaa.

There's a scene in Forrest Gump where it starts to rain and keeps raining for months. I think it's happening in real life here. Yesterday I baked to forget the rain.




Iltaa männes se onneks loppu ja nähtii hetkellisest sinistä taivasta. Tännää on taas harmaata.

In the evening it stopped and the sky was momentarily blue. Today it's grey again.



Vähä aikaa luulin jot karhu on liikkeel, mut ei sit oltkaa.

For a while I thought the dogs heard a bear but fortunately it was something else this time.

Kasvimaal ei oikei tapahu ko ei oo aurinkoo. Herne kuitekii kasvaa ja pavut, viimosel ollaa päästy syömää ommii herneitä.

The only things growing in the garden are peas and beans. No sun, no crops.

I ought to get started with these, too. The taste is not as sour now so they're ready for juice making.

Näyttää kesäselt - Looks like summer

Sitä vois erehtyy luulemaa jot on kesä, ko lämpötilatkii huiteloot viijestoist ja yli. Va eile haravoijes sain taas muistutuksen jot huivi pittää olla kaulas, muute saap niska kylmää ja sit ei oo mukavaa.

You might think it's summer with temperatures over 15 Celsius but it isn't. Yesterday I was raking away without a scarf and the cold breeze did things with my neck. Not nice at all.



Mut, sinnepäi ollaa kuitekii mänös, ja kotmaisii tomaattiloihe kilohinta alkaa olla semmone jot sietää ostaa. Sehä vaati sit vähä kaverloi.

As the spring advances, the price of Finnish tomatoes goes down and has now passed my point of purchase (about 4 euros per kilo). Let the season therefore begin. Tomatoes, like so many other things, are at their best with friends.

Kevättä pukkaa - Spring is making progress

Haastelin tuos ystävä kans kevvää etenemisest, nii jot otin sit par kuuvvaa mitä se tääl meil niiko meinaa. Eteläshä laittaat jo kuuvvii leskelehist ja sinivuokkoloist, meil ei iha viel.

We were discussing Spring with my friend the other day so I decided to take a few photos about what it means here. From Southern Finland friends have posted pics of spring flowers and such - we'll have to wait a while longer for them to appear.

Koirii ja kissoi - Dogs and cats

Eile sahasin lenkkilöi erimoisist langoist nii jot saap taas ketjuu tehtyy. Va kaik o keske, nii jot ei oo kuuvvii tekeleist. Jot laitetaa kissoi ja koirii.

I sawed jump rings for chain maille yesterday. All projects are in progress though so I don't have anything to present. Therefore dogs and cats.

Kevätpuuhii - Spring things

Käytii kävelemäs oikei pitkä kaava mukkaa. Jotkut männiit eel ja niil ol niiko kiire.

Went dogwalking for kilometres. Some went ahead, they were busy, they said.

On the way we saw a blackbird. He followed us and sang to us the song of his people.

On the way back a redwing was so busy selecting materials for the nest that he flew away only when we were about two meters away.

The shimmer of the ice at this time of year is quite amazing.

Kamut lahjoit. Kamut on aika ihkui. Muumilasi toiselt ja toine laitto sit Gandalfpaijan, Taidevandaalikassin sekä omatekemii helmilöi. Ai mahoto! Vandaaliloist tää Lissu on olt miu suosikki alust lähtei, tykkään myös kovast tuosta alnäkyväst Kullervost. Tän kassi kans myö männää paikkoloihi, iha mihi vaa se pääsöö miu mukkaa.

Got gifts from friends. Friends are awesome. The other sent me a Moomin glass, the other package contained a Gandalf t-shirt, an art vandals bag* and some beads she's made herself. Thrilled!!

*art vandals is a comedy page on Facebook, they take a painting and create a saying to go with it. My favourite is this, which says "If you play Nothing Else Matters once more, Lizzy, I'll throw you and that f*cking mandoline overboard." I also highly enjoy this one, in which the Kalevala antihero Kullervo is trying to find a strong 3G signal, as promised by his mobile operator. These images became so popular they set up a shop and business is good. I will take my bag EVERYWHERE!

Aurinko - The Sun

Käytii jääl. En nää ennää puhelime näyttöö kunnollee näil kelilöil aurinkolasit pääs, nii jot horisontit sit on mis on ja kallellaa jos nii sattuu käymää. Niiku nykyne sanonta kuuluu, "sori siitä".

We took a day walk with the doggies and walked to the lake. It's way too bright for me to see the display with my sunglasses on so sorry if the horizon is somewhat tilted.

Just a little way from the shoreline the dogs told me they weren't going any further. The bear smell is still there.

So we turned homeward. Once in a while they checked that we weren't being followed.

The quote is from the movie Poltergeist, a little girl with her bright happy voice announces that the spirits have arrived. I am referring to bears, however.

Spring Equinox is just around the corner and there's daylight even in the evenings so I shifted my schedule a bit. Instead of pitch black dogwalks we took off while there still was light.

When we reached the hill the dogs started sniffing the wind from the west. At first their tails were quite normal but slowly they went down and that's a sure sign there's a bear on the move. So I took a picture and let them sniff for a while and then, as the little girl mentioned above, said in a bright merry voice OK LET'S HEAD HOME THEN SHALL WE.

Ei mittää isompaa - Nothing worth mentioning

Joillekii kova hangepinta on yhtä juhlaa.

Some enjoy the hard crust on the snow, it forms when it's mild in the days but cold at night.



Nuudelii soijasuikaleihe keral. Mie nyt täl viikol oikei opettelin maustamaa nää ja nyt ossaan jo suht hyvi. Tännää ois voint luulla tän ruuva kans jot syöp possusuikaleita ja nuudelii.

Noodles with soy meat. I decided to learn how to make them tasty and today I could have sworn I'm eating pork.



Mie taas vähä tulostelin ja leikkelin ja sottasin aineil. Tulos on lissää, miu vaa pittää muistella mite hitos tätä nimeomasta lasi kans käytettävvää liima-ainesta käytettii nii jot tulos on hyvä. Näist on tulos magneettiloita koha keritää.

I printed and I cut and I made a mess with liquids. I just cannot remember how the glaze worked or how to use it so that the result is neat and classy. But I am working on it, and these will be fridge magnets. One day.
